We here at The Treasure Coast Foodie love writing about success stories, especially during these trying times. With a lot of restaurants struggling due to Covid-19 restrictions, this one seems to be thriving. Owners, Dan and Lacy are two of the hardest working people in the industry and have taken this business from a take out only place in the middle of no-where, to a full fledged sit down restaurant in under 2 years. Now that’s pretty impressive! Since moving to the new location and officially opening on July 23rd, their business has quadrupled! As a backyard BBQ enthusiast myself, I’m pretty picky when it comes to BBQ and theirs is some of the best I’ve tasted in this area. The only thing missing in my eyes is a sticky sweet cornbread to make it nearly perfect. I’ve made my request, and they are working on adding to the menu very soon!
Dan and Lacy officially took over Cafe 66 from the previous owners on Feb 1st, 2019. Their first location was out off of Oslo (9th) and 66th Ave next to Audrey’s Feed & Tack store. Dan had been working there for at least 2 years since it first opened, so he already knew his way around the kitchen and their menu. With a few menu updates, and putting their own personal touches on a few of the dishes, business started picking up. With limited parking space and only outdoor seating available, they knew it was time to move on and find a place of their own. As unfortunate as it was that Smokehouse BBQ had to close, their location ended up being exactly what they were looking for. With a short turn around time of only 3 weeks, they were open and ready for business.
